FAN: New Technologies for Separators and Presses
Best cost-effectiveness for the separation of wastewater, rejects and sludge
From the FAN separator PSS for separation of wastewater into a solid and a liquid fraction, to the new FAN sludge press separator SPS 1200 for dewatering of secondary sludge to the FAN-BELTEC screw press BP for dewatering of rejects: the pioneer of separation technology FAN Separator GmbH - a company of the Austrian BAUER Group - is presenting its latest product upgrades at this year's Zellcheming-Expo in Frankfurt. Best results at low energy consumption, user-friendly control, compact design, excellent manufacturing quality as well as extremely long service life are the focuses of their innovations.
In addition to the FAN separator PSS appropriate for a wide range of applications (such as wastewater treatment, dewatering of rejects in pulp preparation etc.) a new product for dewatering of sludge - in particular secondary sludge - will be presented: the FAN sludge press separator SPS 1200.
The technically upgraded FAN separator PSS now features further practical solutions for a comfortable and easy handling such as a tightly closing cover on the screen casing for easy cleaning. Thanks to a novel additional seal between the separator and the drive unit, the maintenance intervals have been prolonged considerably reducing the maintenance costs. This newly developed sealing system can be retrofitted to all existing separators already in operation.
For the FAN-BELTEC screw press BP for dewatering of rejects, the focus has been put on increasing the lifetime of wear parts and on improving the dry content through control engineering innovations. This screw press has always stood out due to its sturdiness and long service life and it has been appreciated for decades for its high cost-saving potential in operation. Now a larger capacity range can be covered as well. The new BELTEC BP comes in an even more compact design and needs very little space. Essential innovation of spare- and wear parts: A new filter system has been developed that reduces wear costs and increases service life.
Amortisation period of less than 6 months
Thanks to these new technologies, the already short return-of-investment period has actually been reduced even further.
Depending on the current capacity and the dry matter content of the pulper rejects, as well as the currently used procedure, a payback period of less than 6 months was reached by the majority of FAN customers. The increased dry matter content allows to achieve cost-savings year after year and contributes to improve the operating result remarkably. To help customers in their decision-making, FAN offers a free-of-charge payback calculation.
The innovative FAN sludge press separator SPS 1200 has a drive power of only 0,55 kW, the solid matter can achieve a dry mass content of up to 30 %. This sludge separator will be used mainly in municipal and industrial sewage plants where energy-intensive decanter centrifuges often have been used so far. The aim of the new system is always separating liquid from sludge and so to minimize their content of humidity, volume and weight. The more sewage sludge is going to get dewatered the cheaper are the disposal and transportation costs, ensuring a short amortisation period of the investment. The Bauer Group at a glance
Since its foundation in 1930, the BAUER Group - headquarters in Voitsberg, Austria - has been focused on irrigation and slurry management technology. While initially producing wastewater and slurry pumps, the company first became an international player in the sector of irrigation technology in 1947 with the patent-protected Bauer lever lock coupling - named after Rudolf Bauer, the company founder. Today the company is developing rapidly in the biotechnology sector (for instance, treatment of agricultural wastewater or biogas plants) and it is focusing on three main sectors: irrigation management, waste management as well as energy management.
BAUER is the global market leader in irrigation technology: A total of more than 2,5 million hectares is globally irrigated. A major part of sales representing 50% of the total turnover is achieved in the sectors of slurry and environmental waste processing. The BAUER Group exports to more than 90 countries of the world. With approx. 580 employees worldwide, Bauer made consolidated net receipts of about 98 million Euros in 2012/2013 (increase of 8,3% compared to 2011/2012). With an export ratio of 90%, the main markets of the BAUER Group are Germany, France, the CEE countries, China, the USA, South-America and Australia.
The BAUER Group currently consists of 17 companies worldwide.
